York band The Receivers are kicking off 2019 with a mini-tour stopping in their home-city last night, finishing in Leeds on the 12th but most importantly coming to the Ouseburn Valley on Friday 11th January.
With support from local lads Club Paradise and St. Buryan, The Receivers are headlining Little Buildings. The intimate grass-roots venue is moving soon, and this gig could prove a perfect early send off for the current location.
With comparisons to Blossoms and Radiohead, the four-piece indie band were recently spotlighted by NME on their Emerging Artists site. The Receivers headlined Jumpin Jacks back in 2017 but had to cancel their last scheduled Newcastle date and will no doubt be looking to make up for it this time around.
St Buryan were the historical first inductees to our since recently revived TipTuesday series. With drummer Rhys Melhuish, a beloved figurehead of the North East’s local music scene, making moves in booking his own gigs with Rhyme., its nice to see him and the rest of the lads back in action this year after going eerily quiet as a band late-2018.
We caught Club Paradise only a few weeks ago as they headlined Think Tank for the launch of their latest single, Sugar. The rebranded quartet made an impressive return in 2018 and it looks like 2019 will be more of the same.
The gig is FREE ENTRY, and its not a school night. Win-win.
