Atmosphere’s Seven’s Travels Turns 15 Years Old

Rapper-producer duo Slug and Ant aka Atmosphere are one of the most respected underground hip-hop acts. Known for an emotionally resonant, introspective style the duo have released eleven projects since their formation in the late 1980s.

On this day in 2003, Atmosphere released their third studio album Seven’s Travels. The album features one sole guest appearance from Rhymesayers label mate Brother Ali.

The album’s cover art has a bittersweet significance, the alternative version paying tribute to a fan who was murdered at an Atmosphere show. Frontman Slug dedicated Seven’s Travels to the girl, Marissa Mathy-Zvaifler, in the album liner notes.
