Fat Joe’s Don Cartagena Turns 20 Years Old

Bronx bar-smith Fat Joe is probably best known today for the smash hit All The Way Up single which ruled the summer of 2016. Seasoned hip-hop fans know that the Remy Ma and French Montana assisted anthem is simply #AnotherOne.

Setting up the Terror Squad label, Joe has worked with the aforementioned Remy, the legendary Big Pun and of course DJ Khaled before he was shouting about major keys on Snapchat. Lean Back is one of the most iconic rap songs of all time, and we should probably mention collaborations with Lil Wayne, Ja Rule and Ashanti.

On this day in 1998, Fat Joe released his third studio album Don Cartagena. The title track from the LP features Diddy and is our SongOfTheDay. Other guests who pop up on Don Cartagena include Big Pun, Nas, Jadakiss, Raekwon, Noreaga and two-fifths of Bone Thugs N Harmony. Production credits Mack 10 and Marly Marl to DJ Premier and Buckwild.

Don Cartagena peaked at number two on the Billboard US Top R&B / Hip-Hop Albums and came seventh in the overall Billboard 200.
