Gig Guide: Hivemind headline eclectic event in Independent

Wearsiders Presents are best known for booking hip-hop nights in Sunderland throughout 2016. Founder Mark Tyers was recently name dropped by 90BRO on The Great & The Magnificent’s ‘Work It Out’ for his role in the development of New North East getting on to local flyers. Now Mark and Wearsiders Presents is back, but with a more eclectic line-up than we’re used to.

Headliners Hivemind may have rapper-comedian-a-little-bit-of-everything Jack Fox as their drummer but are very much an out-and-out rock band. Formerly known as Masamune, the band have achieved quite a lot in their short time as the rebranded Hivemind. With numerous Spark Local Music playlist placements and an assortment of support gigs in recent months, its good to see them in a headlining position.

Two of the support acts are no stranger to the Wearsiders Presents stage. ABSORB Live have performed a few times for Mark Tyers, which seen ABSORB give Mark Tyers a shoutout on his ‘Triple X Hell’ single exclusively premiered on radio by TheRootMusic. On the other hand, the individual members of La Familia have each been on the stage in Independent courtesy of Wearsiders Presents at least once. With their debut mixtape as a collective on the way, now is the time to check La Familia.

Rob Liam Lowery will be opening up the night with his singer-songwriter vibes to round off the eclectic line-up. B-Type will also be in attendance on hosting and DJ duties. For just £4 advance and before 8PM this is a bargain night of local music. Get yourself to Independent in Sunderland on Saturday 12th August. For more information click here.
