Preview: Static 3 @ World Headquarters

It’s that time again, Static is back to providing a showcase for some of the best up and coming artists from Newcastle. On Saturday 14th November, World Headquarters is host to a double headliner event, with Manchester’s Yoshi Riot doubling up with Rex Regis for the latter’s album launch.

To my knowledge, Yoshi will be the first MC not from the North East to perform on a Static stage, which a great sign of progression for the relatively new event series. Whilst I’m personally looking forward to Rex’s performance most, having recently released his new album, Faith Restored, it promises to be a refreshing set but one that everybody should be familiar with by now.

With support coming from Mr Static himself alongside M2E and JC-Blitz who are returning to the Static stage after skipping out on the last one, for Rick Fury’s album launch. The North East is brimming with brilliant duo’s right now, three of which will be performing at the event, HB and Caff & Trav will be returning once again – what’s a local hip hop night without them? In addition, Chymera (Deej and U Call Me Sir) will be treating the crowd to excerpts from their forthcoming collaborative album. Unfortunately Smooth Jezza will no longer be performing, but DJ Triple B will be on the ones and twos whilst Jack Johnson will be performing drums live for the event.

For what promises to be a good night, and a platform for some of the finest local MC’s to prove their worth, alongside the scene’s favourite Mancunian, head down to World Headquarters in Newcastle on Saturday night. Tickets can be purchased here, or on the door for £7.
